A Hard Lesson For a 4 year old

My littlest one is facing a trial most 4 year olds don't face and one that most adults struggle to get through.

She misses her big brother.

Restless nights take over.

Screams are heard through the night.

Tears are unceasing.

The pain she feels only comes out when the darkness comes.

What do you say?

The only answer lies in trusting our Good Shepherd.

My prayer is that this uncertain time in her life will prepare her little heart for her future...a future of faith in God.

Soft, reassuring words are whispered through the night to her little heart

Prayers are uttered my her mama for a peace in her soul.

Tears are still flowing. This time not just from the little lass.

Psalm 116:1 I love the Lord, because He hears my voice and my supplications.

Oh, that's so very hard! I have a four-year-old of my own and I know how deeply they feel things at this age and how much a sibling means. I hope you guys will find peace in the dark nights and joy in the morning! Hang in there!

Just found your blog and this made me tear up. I was a foster parent for a couple of years, and I remember rocking little ones to sleep as they lay in my arms crying for their mama.

In fact, one particularly memorable child was not quite 2 years old when she was placed with me (with her 2 siblings). She was old enough to miss "home" but too young to explain to what was happening and why she couldn't go home yet.

I almost got out of foster care because of that child. I could handle returning children to families who'd completed their plan....but that was just too hard on my heart.

Thankfully, I didn't get out of foster care. A year later that little girl and her 2 siblings were replaced back in my home....and we adopted them 11 months later.

May God bless you with wisdom as you try to soothe the pain and love her past the hurt.
