Letters of Encouragement

This week marks a special time in the life of a special ministry. Joni and Friends is a unique ministry started by Joni Earickson Tada after her life was radically changed by a swimming accident 40+ years ago. She is quadriplegic who testifies daily of God's grace in her life via her radio spot.

The girls and I have been listening to it via podcast weekly and it has become a great thing to catch up on while we are on the road too. Joni is one of my spiritual heroes. She has truly been used in so many ways to speak the truth of God's Word and His will.

This week on her program she has started a series called, Hearts for the Handicapped. Each day, for a week, she highlights a special family, and gives the listener an opportunity to write to encourage that family. The disabilities may include anything from autism to paralysis.

So as part of our school week we have incorporated a time to pray and write to these families.

It gives us perspective.

Inspiration!

Paige and Tyson Snedeker are two young adults in our church who live a very difficult life, but one blessed by the Lord. A couple of months ago, Joni and Friends came to their home to do an interview and story about their lives. Please watch this amazing video. I am honored to be called their friends.

Have your kleenex ready!

Suffering is Beautiful

There is nothing more beautiful than seeing a fellow believer suffer well. I don't mean to say I enjoy watching others hurt or be in pain. But God's glory is so magnificently displayed in those who suffer with joy.

Joni Eareckson Tada is one of my heroines of the faith. At 17 years old she had a diving accident and broke her neck. Now 40+ years later she is still wheelchair bound. She has fought through cancer and severe pain as she suffers as a quadriplegic. She has been used by God is so many ways that would have never happened if she was not willing to suffer. This beautiful woman of God said this about her suffering: "God has chosen not to heal me, but to hold me. The more intense the pain, the closer His embrace."

If and when the times comes, I pray I may suffer well.

For more infomation on Joni, please visit her site. She has written numerous books, like this one.

Pray..

Joni Eareckson Tada will be undergoing surgery for breast cancer on Monday June 28th.

Please pray for this beautiful woman of God.

Most of us have heard of her and seen her life on the big screen. She has lived a selfless life, given to the hands of God to use in whatever way He wishes.

She knows God intimately and trusts in Him completely. May I be a woman that exemplifies this even in adversity.
